Pain Is Complex
… Fibromyalgia is the epitome of complexity. Fibromyalgia is a long-lasting medical condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It is often described by its most common symptom: wide spread pain and generalized fatigue. Fortunately, fibromyalgia is neither life-threatening nor a progressive condition; continued symptoms do not mean the condition is getting worse.
The symptoms of fibromyalgia can lead to a decrease in a person’s quality of life and functioning, but do not lead to joint, muscle or nerve damage. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia is related to pain system hypersensitivity. Diagnosis is tricky and some doctors still question its validity. Yoga Therapists have a unique skill set that offers guidance and hope for people with Fibromyalgia and other similar auto-immune conditions.
Over these three months we will dive into what Fibromyalgia is - the best practices for 1:1 Yoga Therapy - and best practices for offering Group Therapeutic Yoga - for People with Fibromyalgia. We will dive into yoga therapy practices and techniques which will take these people with fibromyalgia toward greater physical strength, pump up their endurance and motivation, obtain greater inner peace, smart goal setting and enhanced spiritual health.
If you personally have, or have clients who have Fibromyalgia, or similarly* and applicable; Lupus, Crohn's Disease, Stress Exhaustion, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Long Covid, this mentorship can provide an important skill set in your pain care yoga therapy tool kit!
